Frequently asked questions
-
There isn’t one fixed answer, because everyone comes for different reasons. Some people feel clearer and more settled after a small number of sessions, while others choose longer-term support to work through deeper patterns or ongoing difficulties.
At Tuudae, we usually suggest beginning with a few sessions and reviewing together as you go. Therapy should feel useful, not open-ended without purpose, so your therapist will regularly help you notice what is changing and whether the support still feels right for you.
-
A lot of people come to counselling unsure whether what they’re feeling is “serious enough.” You do not need to be in crisis to talk to someone.
If something is affecting your thoughts, relationships, sleep, confidence, work, or general sense of wellbeing, counselling can often help you understand it better and respond differently. Sometimes people come simply because they are tired of carrying things on their own.
-
That is completely normal. Many people arrive worrying they need to explain everything perfectly, but therapy does not work like an interview.
Your therapist will help guide the conversation gently. You can start anywhere - with what brought you here, how today feels, or even by saying you are unsure where to begin. Often the pressure to “get it right” settles quite quickly once the conversation starts.
-
Sometimes therapy can feel emotionally tiring at first, especially when talking about things you may have been avoiding or holding together for a long time.
That does not necessarily mean things are getting worse - it often means important material is being brought into the open. A good therapist will help pace this carefully so you feel supported rather than overwhelmed.
-
What you share is treated with care and confidentiality.
The only exceptions are when there is a serious concern about safety - for example, if someone is at immediate risk of harm, or where there is a legal safeguarding responsibility. If this ever became relevant, your therapist would usually explain this openly with you wherever possible.
-
Some people notice relief simply from saying things out loud for the first time. For others, change is more gradual.
Often the early difference is not that life changes immediately, but that things begin to feel clearer, lighter, or easier to understand. Lasting change usually builds over time rather than happening all at once.
-
The relationship matters. Feeling comfortable enough to talk openly is an important part of therapy working well.
If something does not feel right, we encourage honesty about that. Sometimes a small adjustment helps; other times another therapist may suit you better. At Tuudae, we understand that finding the right fit matters and we can support that process.
-
Therapy is not simply talking for the sake of talking.
A good session helps you notice patterns, understand what sits underneath certain feelings, and begin responding differently in everyday life. Sometimes progress feels subtle at first, but over time people often notice changes in how they cope, think, relate, and make decisions.
-
Life is busy, and therapy needs to fit realistically around that.
We offer both face-to-face and online sessions, with appointments designed to work around different routines where possible. Many people find that having one protected hour each week actually helps them manage the rest of life more clearly.
-
That can be discussed openly.
If your needs change, your therapist will help review what would be most helpful — whether that means continuing longer, increasing support, exploring another approach, or linking you with additional services if needed.
-
When booking your first session payment is made in advance. For each session there after you just pay on the day via QR code, Card Machine or Online link if sessions are Online. Full payment information is shared clearly during booking so there are no surprises, and our team can answer any questions before you begin.
